Not sure what the Mean Reds are?

Hello and welcome to A Mean Reds Production.

My name is Tom Stock and I am the founder of this production company. I'm a filmmaker who creates media for myself and for others, who is inspired by individuals that construct a strong social conscience in the art they create.

As a director I am affected by the integrity and public atonement within the films of Clint Eastwood and Oliver Stone. In particular their  methods of holding up a mirror to society. As a writer, the cultural awareness and wit of Tina Fey keep me smiling. As a producer I'm a follower of Lawrence Bender and The Wachowski's eye for an engaging story. Cinematographer's Roger Deakins and Jeff Croneenweth encourage me to continually up my game. The style of editor Brian Berdan is a marvel. As a designer my influences are countless but the art of Roy Lichtenstein, Steven Klein, Ridley Scott, Dorothea Lange and Terry Gilliam is engrained upon me.

The title of my production company, and this weblog, derives from a brief piece of dialogue within the film classic Breakfast At Tiffany's. Written by George Axelrod, though based on the book by Truman Capote, the mean reds are used to describe a feeling of immense fear, like a fever, that consumes a person for various apparent or ambiguous reasons. For myself, the mean reds are a fear of failure that I use to drive myself forward as hard as it may sometimes be. They are the reason why I went to university and am here now reflecting upon an education. Without the mean reds none of what you are about to read would be written.

I hope this weblog is enjoyable as a document of me creating and helping others to create media with the desire of keeping those mean reds at bay.

Sincerely, Tom Stock
